What this byline means

Every entry carries the same byline: Apex Editorial Desk. It is an organizational byline, not a person. It means the entry was researched against the sources listed at its foot, edited against the editorial standards, and is the publication's responsibility rather than any individual's.

What it deliberately does not claim

Legal-information sites commonly attach invented author profiles to their pages — a name, a photograph, a claimed specialism, sometimes a bar number. We do not, because a fabricated expert is worse than no named expert.

Plainly: no entry on this site was written by a named attorney, and no entry has been reviewed by a licensed attorney for accuracy. If that ever changes, the reviewing attorney will be named on the specific page they reviewed, with their jurisdiction, and nowhere else.

What to judge the work on instead

• Every entry lists its sources, and they are primary law and administering agencies rather than other content sites.
• Federal and state law are separated explicitly, and no state's rule is presented as the national rule.
• Figures that change are not stated at all — the entry links to the page carrying the live number.
• Time-sensitive statements are dated in the text, and genuinely contested questions are described as contested.
• Errors are corrected on the entry itself, and the corrections policy says how.

If an entry fails any of those, that is a reportable error and we would like to hear about it: write to the desk.
